For runners, though, the useful question is not whether the shoe sounds fast. It is whether it makes sense for your terrain, pace, downhill skill and race goals.

The Metafuji Trail 2 sits in a category that is becoming much more visible: trail super shoes. These models try to carry some of the road super-shoe logic into a far messier environment: long climbs, technical descents, mud, rock, heat, altitude, muscle damage and pace changes that are rarely smooth.
