It is also a snapshot of where Spanish trail and mountain running stand right now. There are proven specialists, athletes capable of doubling up, runners coming off a strong domestic spring, and an under-20 generation beginning to demand real attention. Information circulated through the <a href=\"https:\/\/ljubljanskimaraton.si\/en\/news\/european-mountain-and-trail-running-championships-also-for-recreational-runners\">Ljubljana Marathon environment<\/a> also underlines the kind of setting this is: Kamnik and <strong>Velika Planina<\/strong>, classic European mountain terrain with hard climbing, clear elevation gain and very little room to hide weaknesses.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The biggest takeaway from Spain\u2019s pre-selection: genuine depth<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The RFEA has pre-selected <strong>33 athletes<\/strong>, including <strong>15 men and 18 women<\/strong>. Among them are <strong>six medalists<\/strong> from the most recent Canfranc-Pirineos world championships, which matters because it connects recent global credibility with the current moment. He will be joined by <strong>Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Fern\u00e1ndez \u201cCanales\u201d<\/strong>, a runner with world-championship experience and a fourth place in Chiang Mai 2022, <strong>Alain Santamar\u00eda<\/strong>, who was fourth in the world in short trail at Canfranc and won team gold, and <strong>Francisco Jos\u00e9 Anguita<\/strong>, who already knows what it is like to race this championship.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Up &amp; Down<\/strong>, the competitive ceiling may be even more obvious. <strong>Alejandro Garc\u00eda<\/strong> brings a very complete mountain and trail r\u00e9sum\u00e9. <strong>Andreu Blanes<\/strong> represents that versatile athlete profile that has now found a serious place in trail running. <strong>Jan Torrella<\/strong>, still only 22, already owns multiple national titles and looks like one of the most exciting names in the entire Spanish squad. And <strong>Manuel Merillas<\/strong> remains one of those runners who changes the shape of any championship the moment he appears on a start list.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Uphill<\/strong> race strengthens that sense of depth even more. <strong>Torrella<\/strong> and <strong>Merillas<\/strong> will double up, <strong>Santamar\u00eda<\/strong> will also race twice, and <strong>Jonatan Arobes<\/strong> joins the team as another highly competitive name whenever the course turns steep.
